Polfex ltd was founded in 1990 under the name Przedsiębiorstwo Produkcyjno-Handlowe „POLFEX” Sp. z o.o. (Production and Trading Company Polfex Ltd.) and registered in the company registry under the number KRS 0000017213. In 2003 the company changed the name to POLFEX Ltd.
The company originated from the idea and opportunity of creating a joint polish-french project focused on delivering top quality over-fattened duck liver to the french market. This required a modern poultry slaughter and meat processing facility that would meet the highest industry standards and fulfil quality expectations of the most demanding clients.
In 1994 the founding team undertook immense effort to complete all the formalities and preparatory duties. In the meantime the french partner POL-FUKIER withdrew from the project leaving the team members representing POLFEX to decide whether to withdraw or continue with this even more challenging project. Despite many obstacles POLFEX decided to continue and achieve the desired goals. It amplified the production facility and capabilities in 4 areas: hatching, rearing, fattening and slaughter. It also increases cooperation capabilities and supplier base.
In 1995 the company performed an acquisition of a slaughter and meat processing facility.
From that time on, the facility was completely modernized in terms of production processes, compound architecture and technologies. Some of the key investment projects worth highlighting are:
1. Construction of a new state of the art production hall along with the following equipment:
· poultry cooling facility,
· meat division facility,
· packing facility
· deep freezing and storage facility.2. Modernization and reengineering of the value chain and technological processes:
· supplies,
· collection of finished product,
· production,
· communication routes, including clean and dirty production areas in accordance with EU regulations.
3. Modernization and reconstruction of a new state of the art:
· slaughter facility,
· waxing facility,
· gutting facility,
· packing facility.
4. Driveways and maneuvering areas in the clean and dirty parts.
5. Temperature and humidity control systems for the production areas.
6. Introduction of air-water cooling instead of water cooling.
Our effort of maintaining leadership in product and service quality continues to this day, especially because we have been trusted by customers from the most demanding markets in Europe and beyond. In the year 2000 POLFEX introduced the food safety system HACCP, which is successfully operating to this day and in 2008 the food safety management system in accordance to the ISO 22000:2005. In 2010 the International Food Standard – IFS was introduced.
Our present goals and efforts are very much focused on sustainability and co-existence with the surrounding environment. In 2012 we have completed the construction of our own state of the art waste treatment facility which has contributed to increased safety and quality of our products and services.
